This year for Hazel's party she wanted a Mermaid Water party. I thought that was perfect because its so hot in August. We had a panic moment when our kiddie pool got a hole in it a week before the party. It's hard to find pools near the end of summer but Isaac searched the city till he found one.
Isaac also did the cute invitations.

We decorated our backyard in Mermaid decor:
The fish chandler thing and streamers to make it look like water under the canopy

The sign I made for the gate.
We had 13 kids invited and all 13 came. It was a lot of kids and I was a little nervous but they all seemed to have fun. Ok maybe it was 14 if you include Daniel

They always like beating Daniel up. They did it at Hazel last party too.

So I turned beating up Daniel into a game called "Sea Monster". He was the sea monster and the kids were the mermaids and he would chase them and I gave them these sea life soakers to throw at him.

Then I put out the mermaid food.
fish cookies
gold fish crackers
I got all the kids coconut cups to drink out of. They were all pretty excited when I told them they could take them home.

Hazel got a special pink coconut cup.

Then Hazel opened presents. Thanks for all the presents!

Delilah woke up from her nap so Daniel took care of her for me.

We did cupcakes instead of cake. I was pretty proud of them. I ordered the cupcakes from a store near us and then I made these white chocolate sea shells to go on the top to make them look like cupcakes a mermaid would eat.

The candles kept going out so that is why Isaac's hand is in the way, he was shielding it from the wind. Carlye would have gotten a better picture I am sure but she had her baby 3 days before the party. We gave baby Madee an invitation to the party but she didn't come. Maybe next year.

Then we made sea shell bracelets. The age on them was 8 and older but I thought how hard is it to string some sea shells on a string, um it was really hard. So me and my mom ended up making them and it was hard for us. Some girls decided to just take theirs home and try to do them there.
Hazel had a really fun birthday. Thanks to everyone who came!
