Oh No! Not again!

The other day I had just picked Hazel up from her little music class at the neighbors house and she was telling me about what they had learned that day. The twins were downstairs watching a movie and eating yogurt covered raisins. Delilah was hungry so I was going to just feed her upstairs while Hazel finished talking to me. Then I heard Evan start crying. He sounded a little panicked about something so I went down to see what was wrong. He had his finger up his nose which is not a totally uncommen thing for a 2 year old to be doing but then I noticed he had white stuff on his finger and coming out of his nose. Then it hit me, The yogurt covered raisins! He had put one up his nose! You would think he would have learned from the bead. I set Delilah on the couch and looked up Evan's nose and sure enough I could see the raisin, by now all the yogart was gone. I told Hazel to keep and eye on Delilah and ran upstairs and got the tweezers. When I got the bead out I had Isaac there to help but he was at work so I was trying to hold him down and get it out on my own. I couldn't get it out, it was really far up there. While I was trying to get it and screaming at him to stop moving I noticed his nose was starting to bleed a little so I gave up. I sent Isaac a text about it and did what I always do when I have an emergency, called my mom. She said my dad was in Clearfield for a meeting so maybe he could stay with the other kids while I took him to the emergency room. But then I realized I didn't have a car, we only have one and Isaac had taken it to work, and my dad didn't have a car seat for Evan in his car. So I called Isaac and told him he needed to come home. While I waited I took a few pictures. You can't really see the raisin.

I remembered that there is a clinic by our house that is open till 8pm so I called them and made an appointment so I didn't have to take him to the emergency room. Isaac got home and soon after my dad stopped by. He was going to stop by to say hi anyway. I grabbed Evan and left.
While I was filling out some forms Evan said he wanted to go home.
Me: We can't till we get the raisin out of your nose
The Lady at the desk: He has a raisin up his nose!
Me: Yes
Lady at the desk: Is that why he is here?!
Me: Yes
The Lady at the desk laughs.
We had to wait for like an hour in the waiting room.

Finally they call us and we go in. The nurse went over all the usual questions and then we got to the one I was dreading "What are we seeing you about?". I told her about the raisin. When she left I heard her go to the other nurses and say "That little boy in there, guess why he is here! He has a raisin stuck up his nose!" Then I heard them all laugh. Hazel had seen this doctor before for an ear infection, his first name is Elmo so we call him Dr Elmo at our house. He took us to another room that was a little scary, it looked like a hospital operating room almost. It took 3 nurses to hold Evan down while the doctor pulled it out. I thought about taking a picture of the raisin but I just wanted to hold my little upset boy. The nurse gave him a bag of Skittles and she reminded him they were for his mouth not his nose. On the way out Evan said in a little sad voice "Mom, lets go home" it was so sad. Isaac ended up having to work until 2am that night to make up for having to leave and we have had another talk to all the kids about not putting things up our nose.

I'm glad he's ok now...

Thanks for sharing!

what kid doesn't repeat what you told them not to do.... hope that doesn't happen, Glenn thinks his fingers up his nose are funny, but hasn't tried anything else yet :)Delilah is soooo cute!!! Wow. And poor Hazel, it's so amazing kids don't get hurt more the way they "play" love to your family!
