Hazel's Baptism

Hazel's baptism day was pretty hectic. She was the only child being baptized in our ward that month so I got to plan the whole thing. It was really nice because it made the day more special for her but it was a little crazy for me because I had never planned a baptism.
So we planned it for the first Saturday in September, the 7th, thinking that was our Stake baptism day but it turns out September was a weird month. September 1st was a Sunday making that fast Sunday so they did Stake baptisms that weekend to go with fast Sunday. I discovered this about a week before. We had the font reserved for us for the 7th so it would still work out we just weren't doing it the same day as the rest of the stake. My only worry is that the font wouldn't be filled but considering we had reserved it for that day the person in charge of filling it would do it.
So the day of I sent Isaac over to check the font a few hours before. He came back saying no one was there and the doors were locked. Great! The font takes a couple hours to fill! So we tried calling the member of the bishopric who was conducting for us, he didn't answer his phone (his kitchen had flooded so he was busy) so Isaac left a message. Eventually we got a hold of the bishop (who had been changing a flat tire) and the bishop looked into it and found that no one had filled the font for us! Yep I was panicking. A bunch of our family and friends were going to show up in an hour and the font was going to take longer than that. Also my parents were running late and my mom had the shrug I needed for my dress so we couldn't leave for the church till she got there. Luckily Isaac's Dad and step mom Emily had come early and were chatting with the kids keeping them occupied while I stressed. Emily also made hazel a really cute personalized baptism towel. Thanks Emily! We also had a really sweet neighbor make her one too. Thanks Brenda! Now Hazel will only use baptism towels after her showers.
Finally we made it to the church, late of course. We took pictures and chatted while we waited for the font to fill.
The baptism was wonderful and yes I cried a little. We had some great talks from Isaac's sister Stephanie and my nephew Tyler. Thanks you guys! And my dad, Carlye and David all sang When I Am Baptized. It sounded great! Thank you! Thank you Susan for conducting the music for us. And Thank you to all of the rest of you who helped out and came to support Hazel!
After the baptism we went back to our house for pizza, because that is Hazel's favorite food.
It was a really crazy stressful day but it was also a really good day. So proud of Hazel for making this choice. She is such an amazing little girl with such a strong testimony. She doesn't even question anything about the gospel she just knows its true and she had no worries about being baptized. I am so lucky to be her mom. We are so lucky to have so many people there to be with us on this special day!
