So we packed up and left Friday afternoon. We were a little disappointed because there is usually a ton of snow but this year there wasn't much. But it was supposed to snow during the weekend.
First order of business is always to start a fire, the heat is turned off during the winter unless someone is there so it is really cold when we first get there. David volunteered and had an audience
He was struggling and getting frustrated. I suggested hairspray and toilet paper. Me and Carlye are famous those fires ;)
The kids were happy to see each other and play even though it was cold.
Evan, Delilah and Jaxen having a tea party.

The next day we were happy to see it was snowing and the kids started getting ready to go out. Delilah was happy playing with Hazel's toy cell phone and drinking her (pretend) tea. She was really cute. She kept the cup next to her and every once in a while she would take a sip of tea and then go back to the phone.
There is usually a lot more snow on that railing
While Delilah was happy I went out to get some pictures of my cute kids having fun.
It was snowing really hard so I had to put a towel over the camera to keep it dry. that is the dark thing in the corner of this picture.
Evan was having a ton of fun with his Uncle David.
I took more scenery pictures this time, I told David I felt bad always posting the same pictures of my kids sledding every year on the blog so I thought I would change it up a little.
It got more exciting pictures later.

We have to park on the main street during the winter. On Saturday we got almost 2 feet of snow in one day and the snow plow kept coming and pushing even more snow up against our cars. By the end of the day Chris couldn't even open his car door.
After a fun day of sledding the kids were exhausted so we got them in jammies and after some stories we put them to bed.

Yes ladies he is single.

Then it was time for my favorite part, the late night games. Which got out of hand rather quickly. Some pictures had to be burned in the fire.
This was one that was funny but not inappropriate
The paper on the right says "Carlye is a camera whore. BAM" and then there are some pictures of said whore.

I heard Isaac come in the basement door and heard Hazel crying really hard. I went running to the stairs because her cry didn't sound good and I met them just as they had gotten to the top. I saw Isaac's face first and he looked really upset and then I looked down at Hazel and she was covered in blood. Blood was pouring out of her mouth. I quickly looked in her mouth and saw all her teeth were there but it looked like one was about to fall out any second. I grabbed her and said "We need to take her . . . somewhere." Dentist or emergency room? I couldn't tell where all the blood was coming from so I didn't know.
Isaac and Hazel had been sledding down a big hill going fast and hit a tree. Hazel hit face first and Isaac hit sandwiching her between the tree and him. He was fine. Daniel saw it happen and said as soon as it happened she just started gushing blood.
I was so thankful my family was there. The men went straight to our car with shovels to dig it out of the snow without us even asking. In the cabin someone already had paper towels ready for me. Because of the damage to her teeth and the blood was coming from somewhere in her mouth I couldn't put pressure on it to stop the bleeding so I figured cold was the next best thing. I knew there wasn't ice in the freezer so I had someone grab me a cup full of snow, soft and cold, perfect. I held the snow against the paper towels I had against her mouth. Someone grabbed Delilah so I didn't have to worry about her getting hurt (I think it was my mom), Kati cleaned the blood off of Hazel's coat and snow clothes and Carlye got her sister in law on the phone, our dentist is her dad so soon we had the dentist on the phone who eventually said to take her to the emergency room. The bleeding had slowed down a lot and I could see a really bad gash in her bottom lip, and a lot of other little cuts in her mouth, her tooth was messed up but not loose and her nose was swollen. The men came back after the car was out and gave her a blessing.
We almost took her to Park City Medical Center where we would have ended up there with the comedian Tracy Morgan. Luckily we remembered about Sundance and went to Heber Valley Medical instead. So glad we did. They had a walk in clinic open on the other side of the ER so we didn't have to pay the emergency co-pay. And the doctor there was great. He said is wife was pregnant with their first girl and Hazel was one of the names on their list for her. And he told Hazel because of her the name got moved up a few spots, which made Hazel happy. I took this picture while we were waiting, that smile was gone after the doctor said she needed stitches.
She got 4 stitches in her bottom lip and she was really brave. The doctor checked her nose several times and said he didn't think it was broken and an x ray isn't very helpful when it comes to the nose so he said to wait for the swelling to go down and if it looks off take her to her doctor.
The next day I let her miss school because she was super swollen and in a lot of pain. And we had to take her to the dentist. I thought for sure the dentist would just pull the tooth. He said it had definitely had some trauma but it wasn't loose and after some x rays he said it was still anchored and in there and the permanent teeth were fine so he left it and said to eat soft foods for the next week. He does want to see her back next month just to check it again. My mom was watching the twins and Delilah for us while we took her in and when we got back my mom got Hazel some special ice cream, I was even a little jealous (she let me have one bite).
This was all really traumatic for us. I couldn't even sleep for a few nights because every time I closed my eyes I saw my blood covered child crying. Even Hazel had a nightmare and woke up crying. My mom has 6 kids and has seen lots of injuries but she has never seen so much blood coming out of a child's mouth. It was really horrible. And everyone (my mom, doctor, dentist) kept saying how it could have been a lot worse. If she had hit her head instead of her mouth it could have been really bad. Anyways she is fine now except her tooth still looks a little funny but its a baby tooth. And next year when we go sledding I have a lot more safety rules the kids will be following.

Eek-I'm glad she's fine! I would have such a hard time with that too-my mind-I guess it's a women thing-does that instant and incessant replay of horrible things-so I hope to never have a really bad image in my head....Mere is almost always the one that starts trouble making and it's almost always Glenn that gets hurt even though he's bigger. It's just crazy she hasn't hurst herself badly.
