Evan's Spider Bite

On Friday night I was bathing Evan and when I went to wash his foot I noticed this huge horrible bruise on the top of his foot. I thought maybe his foot got stepped on or he fell on it funny or something. I was worried because it looked so bad that I was worried it was broken or something. It wasn't swollen and he had been walking fine all day so I thought I would just keep an eye on it but like a normal mother I worried about it all night. When Isaac got home that night (around 12:30 am) I told him about it and asked if he remembered Evan hurting it at all. He said he didn't but it worried him too. Then Isaac brought up that it could be a spider bite and I told him that it had crossed my mind too. Evan was having trouble sleeping so Isaac went in and looked at his foot using his cell phone as a light. The light from the phone totally brought out the bite marks in the middle of the bruise. It freaked me out that a spider had done that to his foot. It freaked me out even more that Isaac had found a black widow on the inside of our back door just a few days earlier. I didn't think it was a black widow because he had had it for several hours but hadn't acted sick or anything. I am pretty sure it was a wolf spider. We get a lot of those in our house especially in our basement where our playroom is. I hate them!!! They are not poisonous but they are huge. Like the size of a silver dollar. We pulled Evan in bed with us for a little while because he was really having a hard time sleeping and I wanted to monitor him for a little bit to make sure he was ok. We usually never let our kids in our bed. It is a habit I never wanted to start so he was a little nervous at first but then he realized it was fun so he started poking his dad in the face and Isaac started pretending to bite his finger which made Evan start giggling that is when I realized Evan was just fine and now that it was 2 am he was going back to his own bed and I was going to sleep. He still had a hard time sleeping all night. Anyways Evan is fine but still has a awful looking bruise. Don't even bother telling me to bug bomb (I have had 2 people tell me to)I don't want all those chemicals around my kids and my dogs. I am just going to do it the hard way and clean out the basement and vacuum behind all the furniture.

Ah! I HATE SPiders! We had some huge orb weaver ones in our house and I don't know if they bite but I got Saki to kill the 2 I saw. I can put little ones outside, but big ones are just too big to kill or put outside, I hate it... that's awful. Maybe you can spray around the door frame outside or window frames outside, where the kids won't be touching. I don't like lots of chemicals either.

Yuck. We get those too. I would at least spray around your windows.

Happy Birthday Jessi! I got here from Carlye's post, just so you know! Your kids are adorable as ever! I loved the post about Hazel's first day of school, and you were so sweet writing about Hannibal. Hope you had a good day yesterday!

ew... to even think of those spiders around my kids would freak me out. Gives me the shivers.

Just go to home depot or Lowes and get some spider spray and spray around your home and windows, doors, ect. that way you don't have the chemicals in your house but that should kill them. I use it about every six months and I rarely ever see a spider at my house.
