The Binki Fairy

Normally I take my kids binkies away before they turn 2. Usually I just take them and we have a rough night or two and then they forget about them and we move on. Well Delilah isn't one of those kids who forgets things easily and she is very very stubborn. I was terrified to take her binkies away. So she was still sleeping with it well after her 2nd birthday. It got to the point where she was waking up the whole house when she woke up during the night and couldn't find one. She would scream like someone was trying to murder her. So I decided I needed to suck it up and take them.
We decided to go with the Binki Fairy approach. I figured she was probably old enough to understand it.
So she gathered up all her binkies and put them in a bag hanging on her door knob. Then she went down for a binki free nap. I thought she would never fall asleep but she eventually did.

When she woke up she found that the binki fairy had taken all her binkies to give to the babies that need them and left her some new Minnie sheets for her bed! She is a huge fan of Minnie.
The Binki Fairy thought if she got something for her bed then when she woke up during the night and her binkies were gone she would remember that the Binki Fairy took them and she wouldn't freak out.
That night she got in her Minnie PJ's, and snuggled up on her new Minnie sheets and pillow with her stuffed Minnie  and her Minnie Blanket her Nana made her. The girl loves Minnie. She also has a pretty Minnie quilt her Grandma Fogg made for her but we are saving that for when we switch out of the crib to a toddler bed.
We had a few rough nights but she is sleeping fine binki free now. And she now says the Binki Fariy gave all her binkies to baby Boston
