I brought cupcakes for the class.
Evan wanted to have a Spiderman party and Erick wanted a Batman party so we combined the two. I got busy with Christmas and everything and didn't have time to plan anything so we got Scales and Tails to come again because they were so great last year.We invited a few friends from school and some kids from the neighborhood and family. I think my dad was more excited about this than the kids. Our snake guy Shane called to say he was running a little late because he had a snake having babies (laying eggs or hatching eggs, I don't remember which. I didn't really hear past snake having babies. And I didn't know what to say to that either, I just told him it was fine). Because he is the owner he had to be the one to take care of her because mama snakes can get aggressive (really any female having a baby can get aggressive).
Due to our Spiderman/ Batman theme we asked him to bring some of their creepy crawly things. Erick was very brave holding the spider (I sure wouldn't have done it)
He showed us the spiders web.
I am sure you are wondering what in the world is he putting in his mouth. Don't worry it was just a . . .
Scorpion!
Bet you didn't know they glow green in a black light. Yep, you just learned something new.
Erick holding the turtle.
Evan was a little freaked out by the spider so it took him a while to get the guts to hold something. This lizard came last time so Evan knew he was nice.
Erick and the snake
Erick got a little nervous when the snake started moving.
You can tell Shane and his snakes are good friends.
This snake decided to investigate the backdrop thing. It was crazy how he was able to stick straight out. Just shows how strong snakes are.
If Shane could speak snake (aka parseltongue) he would hear that the snake was saying "I really have to poop"
And the snake did poop. A huge poop, all down Shanes back and on the floor. And the kids thought it was hilarious!
Some of the friendlier smaller animals came back out for some more time with the kids.
Yep holding the snake freaks me out a little. Its mainly how crazy strong they feel and having him wrapped around me neck makes me nervous.
My dad loved this snake. Seriously.
I think my dad was sad when he had to give him back.
Then it was time for cake (after a good hand washing of course)
And yes I made those cakes.
Thanks Carlye for the pictures!
