First Days of School

Erick and Evan started Preschool this year. They started in a really great (expensive) preschool. We got them new shirts to wear for their big first day. Yep Erick is rocking a black eye.
And of course they got new backpacks.

Hazel started 2nd grade this year. She started a couple weeks after the twins so she was super excited when it was finally her first day.

So after a couple months of paying a ridicules amount in preschool tuition me and Isaac decided it wasn't working into our budget as well as we had hoped and we realized we needed to take them out of that preschool. I was freaking out because it was 2 months into the school year and most of the preschools were full. And preschool was going to be double expensive for us no matter where we put them because there are two of them. My sister suggested Head Start so I looked into it. I found out we made too much to qualify but I did discover there was a free Title One Preschool for kids in the boundery of a title one school. Hazel's school is a title one school. How did I not hear of this before?! So I looked into registering there. I knew it was a slim chance that they still had openings and when I called to make an appointment to register (yep you have to make an appointment which was weird) they couldn't see us for another month. I thought we were totally screwed. There was no way there would be opening left by then.
So the next day I went to pick up Hazel from school and I was letting the kids play on the play ground there when Hazel started complaining she needed to go to the bathroom. Normally thats my sign it's time to go home but instead I told her if the back doors to the school were still open we would go in so she could go. Usually the back doors are locked so I was surprised when they opened. We went in and me and the twins and Delilah were waiting for Hazel and we just happened to be standing in front of the preschool class room and the teachers were coming back from taking the kids out to their parents. The teachers stopped and talked to the twins and asked how old they were then asked me if I had thought about putting them in the preschool there! I told them the situation with the expensive preschool and how we had an appointment in a month to register. The teacher handed me two applications and gave me the address to the head offices and the name of the lady to take them to and said go asap. Me and Isaac went first thing the next morning and the twins got the last two spots!
Another amazing thing that happened was on our way home I told Isaac we still had to give 30 days notice to the old preschool and that meant paying for another month. We were driving right by that school so I told Isaac to stop so we could just fill out the paper work then. When I got in there they said don't worry about the 30 days we will just call them done the end of this week!
So the twins had another fist day of school at their new school. They felt pretty cool because they would be going to Hazel's school like big kids. They insisted on the same new shirts we bought for this first day.
It has been kind of an adjustment switching schools but the boys are doing great. Evan even has a friend that tackles him to the ground as soon as he walks in. Erick is still shy but loves to follow the teacher assistant around. I love that it is free and I can pick all 3 kids up at the same time!
Hazel is also doing great in school and loves her teacher.
Great start to the school year!
