A few weeks ago I was having a usual lazy Saturday morning. I was taking my time getting ready for the day (which bugs the heck out of Isaac) and I had the tv on like usual (which also bugs Isaac because he says it makes me take even longer). I had it turned to that channel 11 create channel, I had been watching a gardening show but a wood working show came on and I didn't bother changing it. Hazel came running in and jumped on the bed. I was frustrated because it is very hard to put make up on with a 5 year old bouncing around on the bed. To my amazement she laied down and started watching the wood working show. She watched the entire thing and then when it was over she asked if their was another one, sure enough there was. And she sat and watched that one. They were making a wood tray and I asked her if she would make me one and she got totally excited about it but then realized we had no wood. I thought it was so funny that she was interested in wood working I told my mom about it and like a good grandma she went out and bought Hazel a wood kit. The day we were supposed to go over to her house and do the wood kit Hazel was sick so my mom sent it through the "Cephalon Chain" (she gave it to Carlye who gave it to Tim who gave it to Isaac at work and Isaac brought it home). Finally the other day we got around to doing it.
I thought it was just going to be something she glued together but I was a little nervous to find nails in the kit. Isaac keeps his hammers in the shed which he keeps locked and of course he had the key with him. But Hazel decided to use one of her brothers toy hammers and it actually worked. And she didn't even smash her fingers doing it. I guess she is a natural at wood working.

She got it all put together and then I let her paint it. She loves to paint.

When it was dry she had a cute little bug box. It even came with a little clear plastic lid. She is very excited for spring to come so she can go collect bugs in her new bug box that she made. My mom said she plans on getting another one next time she is at Lowes.

Thanks Mom!
